Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can play a certain role in the treatment of biliary atresia.
TCM often uses herbal medicine. Some herbs are believed to have the function of promoting bile secretion and improving liver function. For example, herbs like Artemisia capillaris and Yinchenhao are thought to have choleretic effects. Acupuncture and moxibustion may also be used as an adjunctive treatment. Acupuncture points related to the liver and gallbladder meridians are selected to regulate the qi and blood circulation of the body and relieve symptoms such as jaundice.
However, it should be noted that biliary atresia is a serious congenital disease. Currently, surgery is the main treatment method. TCM treatment is usually used as a complementary approach to help relieve symptoms, improve the patient's condition, and support the body's overall function during the treatment process.
